The electronics and energy operation is one of the three main pillars of the group vision, "Look Beyond", focusing on the following four areas to advance the creation and expansion of businesses, 1) semiconductor process materials, 2) display materials, 3) photonics components, and 4) energy materials. While taking advantage of our strengths in core technologies such as glass and fluorine chemistry, we are proactively entering new business areas with the aim of building electronics & energy into a core domain for the future.
Products
Our high-precision technologies of material development, coating, surface processing and molding were first cultivated by our core technologies in glass, fluorine chemistry and their related fields, but are also prevalent in the cutting-edge field of electronics & energy.
Products and technologies from the AGC Group such as synthetic quartz used as a material for semiconductor processing, back light tubes used for liquid crystal displays, and optical pickups used for DVDs are all in wide use in the information and communication industry.
In the field of energy, we are developing fluorinated MEA(Membrane Electrode Assembly) for fuel cells, contributing to the realization and expansion of fuel cell use in automobiles.
