Our display business produces glass for CRT displays, TFT-LCD displays, PDP displays and a host of other display types.
Business Overview
The display glass operation is divided into cathode ray tube (CRT) glass and glass for flat panel displays (FPD) such as thin film transistor liquid crystal displays (TFT-LCD) and plasma display panels (PDP).
The AGC Group holds a top global share in glass for many important display types including CRT, TFT-LCD and PDP. Our glass is also being used in display types that show enormous promise for future growth, such as Organic EL displays and field emission displays (FED).
Transition Toward Larger Glass Substrates
Year by year, there is a tendency for displays on televisions and other devices to become larger and larger, prompting the need for larger-sized glass substrates, which are key parts for displays. The AGC Group will continue to demonstrate its technical superiority, as our use of the float process to produce FPD glass enables mass-production and is suitable for today's larger displays.

Products
TFT-LCD Glass
The AGC Group produces AN100, an environmentally responsible, alkali-free glass substrate for TFT-LCD that doesn't contain toxic arsenic. AN100 is manufactured using the float process. It has an exceptionally smooth and flat surface, while possessing outstanding thermal characteristics.

PDP Glass
AGC’s PD200 has a high strain point that can withstand operations of up to several hundred degrees, making it widely used as the de facto standard for PDP glass substrates. One of our core technologies is glass formation technology, and PD200 drives this category and leads the way in glass with a high strain point by being the first successfully mass-produced PDP glass in the world.

PDP Glass
CRT Glass
CRT glass applications are divided into TV use and PC use. CRT glass substrates consist of a panel at the front of the screen, a glass funnel behind that, and a neck tube, which houses an electron gun.
