diagonal cable grid system

Yamaha Ginza Building is located in the central Tokyo district of Ginza. Yamaha wanted “a visual expression of two concepts: the fusion of tradition and innovation, and musical harmony,” so AGC specially manufactured laminated four-patterned glass with gold leaf for the facade. The glass is sustained by special “diagonal cable grid system”, which stabilises the facade with a minimum of metal supports.

This combination of materials and engineering methods creates a lightweight glass facade that is beautiful inside and out. During the day, the gold leaf shines brilliantly, and in the evening the lights inside overflow outward. The building shows a different face depending on the weather and hour of day, making it a truly impressive piece of glass architecture
